Neil Bhatia is a business strategist and active private/public market investor. He is the founder of Catalyst Advisors (www.ctylstadvisors.com), a boutique management consulting firm. Catalyst has advised US Department of Defense contractors, medical device manufacturers, e-commerce companies and financial service providers in all aspects of corporate development.

Prior to founding Catalyst in 2019, Neil served on the management teams of several leading hedge funds and multi-billion dollar family offices. He was widely viewed as one of the country’s preeminent alternative asset management attorneys.

Subsequent to graduating law school in 2003, Neil was a corporate attorney in NY with Mintz Levin. He left Mintz a few years later to join Fortress Investment Group as the attorney for its Global Macro Fund led by Michael Novogratz (now of Galaxy) and Adam Levinson (now of Graticule Asset Management). After Fortress’ successful IPO in 2007, Neil was recruited to join Shumway Capital Partners led by Chris Shumway. Neil rose to become its General Counsel and later when Chris returned external capital, Neil became Chief Operating Officer of Chris’s family office and his personal counsel. In 2013, Neil left to join Mick McGuire’s SF-based Marcato Capital Management as a member of its Management Committee and Chief Legal Officer. In 2016, Neil left Marcato to return to the East Coast and helped form and lead John Thaler’s (JAT Capital Management) family office as its Chief Operating Officer.

In addition to his professional endeavors, Neil is the Managing Trustee of the Lakshmi Dream Foundation, a charity founded by his late Father. Lakshmi’s Dream is simple: equality of opportunity.
